Freaking out. . . NCLEX stopped at 85

I just don't know what to do with myself. I took the NCLEX-PN today and it stopped at 85. When I got home I looked up some answers to a few of the questions and I know I got at least 6 or 7 of them wrong and about 6 or 7 that I know I got right which 3 of those were calc questions. I'm trying to keep the faith that I passed, but it is really hard. I've heard of some that pass at 85 and some that fail at 85 and I know the # of quest is just the #. I would at least think that they would've given me a chance to answer a few more questions if I was getting some wrong and I would hate to believe that I was doing just that bad to stop soooooo early! Well, waiting patiently (at least trying to) for quick results in 48 hours.

It's true some do fail at 85 but it seems that much more pass than fail with 85 questions. I had 85 and passed and was so scared I failed. The waiting is not fun but at least its only 48 hours. I am going to bet you PASSED

Jean

I and just about all of my friends took and Passed the Nclex with 85 questions!!!

Well I wish you the best of luck! That is awsome that you only have to wait 48 hours. I took my test on 12-12 and i still haven't heard anything. You will most likely get you results before me.

Me too and I don't personally know anyone that failed at 85. Fingers crossed.

i just posted the same thing yesterday. i was so scared of not passing when my screen turned blue after 85 questions. it seemed like all the questions were so hard, i could not possibly answer correctly. however, i got my results today and passed. i think everyone is right, if it shuts off at 85 most likely you passed. but i know you will not be happy until u know for sure. So Good Luck!!!!

CONGRATS NEW NURSE!!!!!! When did you take your exam? My results still aren't up yet and I'm trying to wait ever so patiently, but it's really not working. I barely got any sleep last night and can't wait to go home and get in my bed. One of my classmates passed with 85 quest, one other passed with 205 quest and one failed with 200 quest. So I don't know what to think at this point. I know that the # is only the # and I have to keep my FAITH in GOD that he helped me pull through it.

I passed with 85 questions too. I think all of my classmates also stopped at 85, we had a 100% pass rate that year :-)

Good luck!

Way to Go ! You are now on your way ~~

Just a question here as we r on the topic of NCLEX, why is the NCLEX-PN a different # of questions for everybody. Why isn't it the same # of questions? Isn't that unfair?

Congratulations to FLIGHT2RN! You're a New Nurse... Whoot! I wish you good luck and all the best in your nursing career. :spin::spin:

Thanks yall! I'm still so happy and excited. Now on my journey to RN. The road will be long, but I believe I'm ready for it. I still don't know the rhyme or reason behind the NCLEX and it calculating PASS or FAIL, but I was told that when the computer is 95% sure that you have reached at or above 50% minimum competency level (difficult questions) than it will cut off and that could be at 85 questions or 110 questions. That's why I keep telling people that the # is just the #, but I will say that if you stopped at the minimum # then you have either done extrememly terrible or pretty dag on good. I'm guessing if you get the minimum and you studied than you more than likely passed. I'm a believer that at least 95% of people pass at minimum # and only 5% fail at minimum #.

FLIGHT2RN I pray you are right about that 95% passing when the computer cuts off at 85. I took the test Jan 3rd and am still waiting on the results. My test cut off at 87 and I felt that I had guessed on almost all of the question. I studied for hours at a time for several weeks before the test and it seems like all my questions were hard questions I had never seen before. Guess I will know soon....

Wow! stopped at 86! And its driving me nutts...most test takers stopped at 85 and passed or not...but yea....86.....any body out there succeeded with 86? had alot of select that apply

Check out the threads at the top of the NCLEX thread for all the info you need.

My step-mom took hers and passed and she had 89 questions
When do you find out?

Jean

I passed at 86 Questions. I wouldn't worry, it's a good sigh that you know your stuff and have consistently answered a number of the top-rated questions correctly.

When you get a question right, the computer gives you a harder question. When you get one wrong, it gives you an easier question. This is how it assesses your skill level. For it to fail you at 86, you would have to had gotten more than half wrong.

Congratz!

I passed!!! WOW!!! Thanks for the support!!

Congrats New Nurse!!!!!!! You Did It!!!!!

Congrats to all u new nurses. Is u true that when u get your pass letter u still need to send money to the board to get your acutal license

Well hopefully i will turn just like you!!!

I will keep you posted....thanks very much!!!

When I took my exam 10 years ago ( wow! has it been that long already!) mine stopped at 85 and I passed. Had to wait two days before I could get results. Let me tell you, those were the longest two days of my life!

Its hard to believe I have been a nurse 10 years. Where did the time go. I still feel like I have so much to learn. Its definately an ongoing learning process.

Congratulations! Welcome to the world of nursing! Its a very rewarding career.

Yes, thanks be to God I did it!! Thanks to everyone that supported and believed I could do it. I really would not have believed it myself if I had not seen my name and that wonderful new liscense number beside it on the BON website!!![:an!:

I know how it feels to be in your position, but believe me, before you know it your results will be posted and you can breathe a sigh of relief!! I took my NCLEX-PN last June and was also stopped at 85 questions and passed. I remember just wanting to go home and cry after the test, knowing that I failed it. My advice to you would just be to remain optimistic and confident. You know your stuff! Good luck to you!:

This is true if you are in California.

I passed at 85 questions, I passed I passed. I dont know how I did it but I did....... I passed , I'm a nurse!!!

Thank the lord...

Im waiting, these hours r toture,

The wait is total tortur, was looking up answers too, but im hoping for the best

Congrats to you, im so happy for you!

I just took my boards today in Atlanta GA. I also only had about 85 questions, and am just like you wondering if I passed or not. We all know that they say the questions get harder if you know them and easier if you dont know the answer. Well, for me, when i was taking it I started to get upset because I felt like I kept getting easy questions which made me think that I was getting all of them wrong!! Also I felt like I had no clue to what the answer's where! I had no drug cal but did have like 12 of "choose all that apply" questions. Also there was about 10 questions asking to know which lab values pertained to the question. Now for me, lab values I didnt really pay alot of attention to in school and I feel that maybe that just bit me in the butt. I just want to give you guys a heads up. I will find out in 48 hours. I am trying not to be negative but, its like when you have only 85 you either are above average or really below it and I honestly dont beleive that I was above the average score.......I dont know, but I will let you all know how I did. GOOD LUCK

Did you pass??
